A SNIPPET OF MY LIFE
My Background
I was born and raised in the heart of Detroit. I am the first born of my father's eleven children and I am a first-generation college student. From an early age I developed an interest in the ways that words work, particularly that of poetry. I began writing poetry at the age of seven and writing random stories in my free time. I also used Hip-Hop music as one of my many learning tools, it is safe to say that my love for poetry finds its origins in my appreciation of Rap/Hip-Hop culture. My interest followed me through my academic career. English classrooms were almost like a daily haven for me. Much of my inspiration to become a teacher stems from the sheer number of amazing teachers that I encountered during my learning experiences. This undying love for language would steer me in the direction of other forms of the English Language. When I entered college, I was unsure of myself, but I knew that I would always have an unyielding love for language and poetry. Eventually I realized how much I enjoyed the classroom setting and paired that interest with my love of English to pursue a career in education. (Picture Updates to come soon)

I was the head of the 7/8th ELA department at Hamtramck Charter Academy. I teach both classes throughout the academic year.

The English Education degree program at Ferris State University prepares prospective English teachers with the knowledge and skills essential to provide effective English instruction for students in Michigan and throughout the nation. During my time here I maintained a 3.27 GPA and made the Deans List 4 times.
AA FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY
September 2015 - May 2018
The pre-teaching program allows students to begin the general education requirements common to all teaching degrees. The Ferris secondary pre-teaching program leads to an associate in arts degree and typically involves transfer to a secondary teaching degree for the third and fourth years.
